Information we collect
You can browse the public mix catalogue without creating an account. If you register, our authentication provider supplies the account identifier and profile details needed to sign you in and operate your account.
Depending on the features you use, we may store:
- your account identifier and basic profile details;
- favourites, queue items, listening history, and playback progress;
- email preferences and delivery status;
- security and reliability information such as timestamps, request metadata, error details, and approximate device information; and
- consent-based analytics about pages and product features used.
We do not intentionally place passwords, authentication tokens, private form values, or URL query strings into analytics events.
How we use information
We use information to:
- authenticate you and provide account features;
- save your listening choices and synchronise them across sessions;
- send updates you have chosen to receive;
- protect the service from misuse and investigate failures; and
- understand and improve the service when you permit analytics.
We do not sell personal information.
Service providers
We use specialist providers only where needed to operate Music by Mike. These currently include Clerk for authentication, Vercel for hosting, Neon for database services, YouTube for mix playback and catalogue source data, Resend for requested email, Sentry for error monitoring, and—after consent—Google Analytics and PostHog.
These providers process information under their own privacy terms and may process it outside Australia. YouTube embeds and external links can also be subject to YouTube or Google's privacy practices.
Security and retention
We use access controls, encrypted connections, scoped service credentials, input validation, monitoring, and audit records to protect the service. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
We retain information while it is needed to provide the service, satisfy security and legal requirements, resolve disputes, and maintain reliable records. Retention periods vary by data type and provider.
Your choices and rights
Account controls let you update profile and listening preferences. Email messages include an unsubscribe option where applicable. You may also request access, correction, or deletion of personal information, subject to legal and operational retention requirements.
To make a privacy request, use the communication channel associated with your Music by Mike account or reply to a Music by Mike email. Include enough detail for the operator to identify the relevant account and request safely.
Children
Music by Mike is a general-audience music service and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has supplied personal information, contact the operator so it can be reviewed.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the service, providers, or legal requirements change. The revised policy takes effect when published, and the date above records the latest revision.
